\n```\n\n## API\n\nThis package exports the identifiers\n[`gfmAutolinkLiteral`][api-gfm-autolink-literal] and\n[`gfmAutolinkLiteralHtml`][api-gfm-autolink-literal-html].\nThere is no default export.\n\nThe export map supports the [`development` condition][development].\nRun `node --conditions development module.js` to get instrumented dev code.\nWithout this condition, production code is loaded.\n\n### `gfmAutolinkLiteral()`\n\nCreate an extension for `micromark` to support GitHub autolink literal\nsyntax.\n\n###### Parameters\n\nExtension for `micromark` that can be passed in `extensions` to enable GFM\nautolink literal syntax ([`Extension`][micromark-extension]).\n\n### `gfmAutolinkLiteralHtml()`\n\nCreate an HTML extension for `micromark` to support GitHub autolink literal\nwhen serializing to HTML.\n\n###### Parameters\n\nExtension for `micromark` that can be passed in `htmlExtensions` to support\nGitHub autolink literal when serializing to HTML\n([`HtmlExtension`][micromark-html-extension]).\n\n## Bugs\n\nGitHub’s own algorithm to parse autolink literals contains three bugs.\nA smaller bug is left unfixed in this project for consistency.\nTwo main bugs are not present in this project.\nThe issues relating to autolink literals are:\n\n* [GFM autolink extension (`www.`, `https?://` parts): links don’t work when\n after bracket](https://github.com/github/cmark-gfm/issues/278)\\\n fixed here ✅\n* [GFM autolink extension (`www.` part): uppercase does not match on\n issues/PRs/comments](https://github.com/github/cmark-gfm/issues/280)\\\n fixed here ✅\n* [GFM autolink extension (`www.` part): the word `www`\n matches](https://github.com/github/cmark-gfm/issues/279)\\\n present here for consistency\n\n## Authoring\n\nIt is recommended to use labels, either with a resource or a definition,\ninstead of autolink literals, as those allow relative URLs and descriptive\ntext to explain the URL in prose.\n\n## HTML\n\nGFM autolink literals relate to the `` element in HTML.\nSee [*§ 4.5.1 The `a` element*][html-a] in the HTML spec for more info.\nWhen an email autolink is used, the string `mailto:` is prepended when\ngenerating the `href` attribute of the hyperlink.\nWhen a www autolink is used, the string `http://` is prepended.\n\n## CSS\n\nAs hyperlinks are the fundamental thing that makes the web, you will most\ndefinitely have CSS for `a` elements already.\nThe same CSS can be used for autolink literals, too.\n\nGitHub itself does not apply interesting CSS to autolink literals.\nFor any link, it currently (June 2022) [uses][css]:\n\n```css\na {\n background-color: transparent;\n color: #58a6ff;\n text-decoration: none;\n}\n\na:active,\na:hover {\n outline-width: 0;\n}\n\na:hover {\n text-decoration: underline;\n}\n\na:not([href]) {\n color: inherit;\n text-decoration: none;\n}\n```\n\n## Syntax\n\nAutolink literals form with, roughly, the following BNF:\n\n```bnf\ngfm_autolink_literal ::= gfm_protocol_autolink | gfm_www_autolink | gfm_email_autolink\n\n; Restriction: the code before must be `www_autolink_before`.\n; Restriction: the code after `.` must not be eof.\nwww_autolink ::= 3('w' | 'W') '.' '_' | '~'\n```\n\nThe grammar for GFM autolink literal is very relaxed: basically anything\nexcept for whitespace is allowed after a prefix.\nTo use whitespace characters and otherwise impossible characters, in URLs,\nyou can use percent encoding:\n\n```markdown\nhttps://example.com/alpha%20bravo\n```\n\nYields:\n\n```html\n\n```\n\nThere are several cases where incorrect encoding of URLs would, in other\nlanguages, result in a parse error.\nIn markdown, there are no errors, and URLs are normalized.\nIn addition, many characters are percent encoded\n([`sanitizeUri`][micromark-util-sanitize-uri]).\nFor example:\n\n```markdown\nwww.a????b%\n```\n\nYields:\n\n```html\n\n```\n\nThere is a big difference between how www and protocol literals work\ncompared to how email literals work.\nThe first two are done when parsing, and work like anything else in\nmarkdown.\nBut email literals are handled afterwards: when everything is parsed, we\nlook back at the events to figure out if there were email addresses.\nThis particularly affects how they interleave with character escapes and\ncharacter references.\n\n## Types\n\nThis package is fully typed with [TypeScript][].\nIt exports no additional types.\n\n## Compatibility\n\nProjects maintained by the unified collective are compatible with maintained\nversions of Node.js.\n\nWhen we cut a new major release, we drop support for unmaintained versions of\nNode.\nThis means we try to keep the current release line,\n`micromark-extension-gfm-autolink-literal@^2`, compatible with Node.js 16.\n\nThis package works with `micromark` version `3` and later.\n\n## Security\n\nThis package is safe.\nUnlike other links in CommonMark, which allow arbitrary protocols, this\nconstruct
